Japan's first railway ferry museum is housed in the Hakkoda Maru, the last ferry from Aomori on the Aomori-Hakodate route. This is Aomori Prefectural Tourist and Products Center ASPAM, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2016 and can be considered the base for Aomori's tourist products. From the observation deck on the 13th floor, 51 meters above ground, you can get a 360-degree view of not only Aomori city, but also the prefecture bay, including the Tsugaru Peninsula and Shimokita Peninsula. In the summer, you can see the Nebuta floats being moved for the parade, and the Aomori Fireworks Festival, which is held every year on August 7th, where the fireworks and the Nebuta floats are paraded over the sea.
